Meridian became an early on middle college high schoolhouse in 2012 and is 1 of nineteen early eye schools in Michigan. Information technology is also the merely full-school early on middle college program in the state of Michigan, according to Meridian Dean of Student Services Amy Boxey, who helps connect Peak 11th- and 12th-graders with postsecondary opportunities.
Since so, Midland County's other three public schoolhouse districts have all adopted early eye college options for students. Bullock Creek High School has offered early on college classes since 2015, and Coleman High School since 2016.
Midland Public Schools announced in February that its ii high schools - H.H. Dow High School and Midland High School - will offer early centre college starting at the offset of next school year.

"They were there to help me fill out the applications, (financial aid forms), making sure that I take everything that I need," Storms said. "They're extremely supportive."
Another Acme fifth-twelvemonth student, Jenna Emerson, said having the opportunity to explore nursing through Bay Arenac as an 11th-grader two years agone made her realize it wasn't the right fit. At present, Emerson is enrolled in a sonography program at Delta to become an ultrasound technician.
"(The classes at Bay Arenac were) free, and then I didn't waste my money (while figuring out what I wanted to practice)," Emerson said. "I still wanted to piece of work with people and assistance them, but I wanted to be in more than of a hospital setting than a nursing dwelling setting."
Emerson will continue studying at Delta after this semester to finish her associate's caste.
Virtually half of Meridian students opt to stay enrolled for a fifth year and take Delta classes full-time. Those students receive their loftier school diploma at the end of their fifth year, although they already have gone through commencement at the stop of 12th grade.
"The schoolhouse pays the entire cost of tuition, fees and books for their 5th year," Tomsich said. "We also pay for the same components in their junior and senior year if they (are partially enrolled at Delta). So that'due south a huge do good."
Early on centre higher program at Bullock Creek
Bullock Creek High Schoolhouse also partners with Delta College. Different Meridian, Bullock Creek students are not automatically early centre higher students. They tin can employ for the program at the stop of their 10th-grade twelvemonth.

"We know that not every student is interested in going to college," Hale said. "So we really want to keep it as more of an application process and interview process for students who are set for that feel, as opposed to pushing all students to enter."
Bullock Creek Loftier Schoolhouse counselor Jennifer Brown, who serves a similar role to what Tomsich does at Acme, said she is "very, very proud" of the school's early middle college programme.
"I wanted to provide opportunities for our students," Dark-brown said of starting up the program. "Having a partnership with Delta and then shut, nosotros could provide an opportunity for students to get a spring-first on college and take that extra mentorship piece in there. I provide mentorship to the students. Information technology's an extra safety cyberspace for them.
"Some are start-generation college students. For many, it'southward an extra boost to realize they can be a college educatee."
MPS launches early middle higher program
Midland Public Schools Curriculum Specialist for Auxiliary Education Steve Poole told the Daily News that the district recently got approval from the state Department of Education to initiate an early heart college program in the 2022-23 school year.
So far, 11 families have reached out to school counselors at the high schools to express interest in the program.
MPS will partner with both Delta College and Davenport University for the early eye college programme, which will be a iii-year commitment. Current tenth-graders tin can use to join the early heart college program side by side Baronial. The plan gives students the opportunity to earn an acquaintance's degree or 60 credit hours toward a available'south degree. Tuition will be paid past MPS.
